Day 15 Inverness to Home 🎉

Image
On our way back from Inverness to home by train. It's been an incredible journey and I have loved it. We have such a beautiful country. The weather has been very kind to us. People have also been kind (mostly)! I love cycling and being outdoors and this trip has given me some much needed head space, a re-set for my soul and precious time with Chris. I am so grateful for everything I have. The simple and most basic things are ultimately the most important. I am also grateful for all the messages of support and encouragement along the way. Thank you for sharing this adventure with me xx

Day 14 Betty Hill to John O Groats

Image
An incredible day. We were blessed with the most beautiful weather for our last day. Another wonderful route along the north coast of Scotland. Chris and I were able to detour to Dunnet head which is the most northern point, before retracing back towards John O Groats. We waited at the Seaview Hotel so that we could all finish as a team. I will do one more post tomorrow as it's been an emotional day! Special thanks to my mother who has beem an amazing support to me and to my children (and pets) whilst I've been away. Also to Isabella, Edward and Emily who have been understanding and supportive throughout. To my amazing husband, Chris, who has been by my side throughout this journey. To the Pedal Britain team of Darren, Bob and Hayden who have given great support.

Day 13 Evanton to Betty Hill

Image
The weather was kind today so only a headwind to contend with. Climbed out of Evanton and over the Bonar bridge towarxs Lairg. A beautiful route in the Scottish moorland/highland. Climbed up to the Crask Inn and then alongside Loch Naver and then following the river Naver to Betty Hill. A wonderful day. Chris and I walked down to Farr beach when we got back. We've now done Britain south coast to north coast. Just John O Groats to get to tomorrow!

Day 12 Fort Augustus to Evanton

Image
An amazing morning with a steep climb up from Fort Augustus to get us going! Cycled alongside the length of Loch Ness - a little tricky searching for the "monster" whilst cycling! Crossed the suspension bridge in Inverness before a steady (undulating) route to Evanton. Quite short mileage today but some fun climbs to make up for it!

Day 11 Tyndrum to Fort Augustus

Image
Chris and I needed a blast today and with fhe others feeling a bit fatigued, we paired off with everyone happy. A beautiful day, climbing Glen Coe and then dropping down to Fort William and along Loch Oich and the Caledonian canal to Fort Augustus. Staying in a lovely bed and breakfast where they offered to do a load of washing for us. So grateful for their kindness. A fantastic day.

Day 10 Larkhall to Tyndrum

Image
Took us a while today as route mostly on cycle paths but beautiful. Went through Glasgow, then along the Clyde and up to Loch Lomond where Chris and I had a swim. Staying in Tyndrum tonight.
